VIDEO: Talented teens take Segerstrom stage for 25th annual Summer at the Center performance

Celebrating 25 years of changing at-risk students’ lives through performing arts, the Summer at the Center has another hit on their hands.

The video speaks — and sings — for itself, highlighting the students’ journey through the two-week education program and the July 29 performance at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

These students from OCDE’s ACCESS program were asked about their vocal, dance and performance abilities; however, none were actually requirements to participate.

“I always tell the kids this isn’t American Idol,” said OCDE Coordinator Sidra Gaines. “We’re just looking for students who are willing to try, willing to have fun and get along well with others.”

The talented teens took the stage and did all of the above and more. Take a look.
