Senior Project Accountant
OCDE's Administrative Services Division is looking for an enthusiastic individual to serve as Senior Project Accountant for the Fiscal Services Unit. The selected candidate will perform complex and specialized accounting functions that support major programs funded by state, federal, local, and private entities.

While you might be familiar with the award-winning OC Pathways initiative, you might not know that one of the program’s biggest accomplishments over the last year has been the hiring of 14 career counseling coordinators – or CCCs – at almost every secondary school district in Orange County. CCCs assist with the alignment of CTE curriculum, activities and counseling efforts at both the middle school and high school level. As local districts forge ahead with their reopening plans, questions continue to arise over the use of face masks in school settings. To provide some clarity, OCDE’s Legal Services division worked with the OC Health Care Agency to develop a list of frequently asked questions and answers that will continue to be updated as new information emerges from federal, state or local public health or educational agencies. Today, OCDE staged a long-awaited and socially-distanced groundbreaking ceremony for what’s currently referred to as Community School No. 9. Opening in the spring of 2022, the Anaheim campus will have the capacity to serve approximately 350 students in the department’s ACCESS division, which offers an array of educational options for Orange County families. Teachers at VillaPark Elementary in the @orangeusd are using their creativity to come up with inventive ways to keep students engaged in learning, while also keeping them safe! The @ocregister reported today that @orangeusd will begin bringing elementary students back in phases starting Sept. 28. Students will trickle in by grade level with the final group of high schoolers starting on Oct. 20.

UPDATE: County Health Officer Dr. Clayton Chau received confirmation on Monday evening from @capublichealth that Orange County is on track to enter into Red Tier on Sept. 8. Providing OC meets Red Tier metrics at that time, there will be a 14-day wait for all K-12 schools to be eligible for reopening, which could happen on Sept. 22. The @newportmesausd transportation team fulfilled an incredible act of kindness in reuniting a beloved teddy bear to its best friend! Newport-Mesa elementary student Allana misplaced her beloved Mr. Bear, her companion since birth. With the help of her family, she asked the transportation team to check if she may have left him on the bus before schools were closed. She and her family urged our team to please help find Mr. Bear and get him home safely. NMUSD bus drivers Scott Parks and Robert Bremmer safely located Mr. Bear. While Allana and her family did not notify us about Mr. Bear until recently, Mr. Parks and Mr. Bremmer immediately found Mr. Bear and realized that he had taken an eventful adventure throughout the district.
