The results of the 2021 OC Spelling Bee are in and The results of the 2021 OC Spelling Bee are in and it’s at T-I-E! And what’s more, the tie is between two students from the same school! Sophia Lin and Baominh Le, both from the @thepegasusschool in Huntington Beach, will on Tuesday compete virtually again for this year’s top spot and a chance to advance to the National Spelling Bee in June. Stay tuned!

#ICYMI: OCDE on Wednesday opened its second vaccin #ICYMI: OCDE on Wednesday opened its second vaccination clinic for local educators, launching a new POD  in partnership with @CapoUnified and the @ochealth. 

A team of school nurses delivered shots throughout the afternoon and evening in the gymnasium at Capistrano Valley High School, processing about 370 school employees. 

The first OC School POD opened on Feb. 18 at La Quinta High School in partnership with the @GardenGroveusd. A third POD will likely be added next week, with Anaheim as the most likely destination.

Good news! On March 1, vaccinations will be avail Good news! On March 1,  vaccinations will be available to all school-based employees with appointments. Updated state guidance says that 30 percent of new vaccine shipments will be allocated for education and childcare workers along with the food and agriculture sectors. 

And, OCDE is working with local school districts to set up additional vaccination PODs, with operational hours allowing school staff to participate outside their normal work schedules, including weekends. As these new sites come online, educators and support staff will be able to receive vaccinations at any location as long as they have an appointment.
