COVID-19 update: California Governor @gavinnewsom COVID-19 update: California Governor @gavinnewsom today announced that Orange County, along with 27 other counties will move back to the most restrictive purple tier of California’s color-coded tracking system. But what does this mean for local schools? Schools that were previously cleared to reopen for modified on-site instruction will be allowed to stay open with the necessary precautions, including face coverings and physical distancing. But based on state guidelines, campuses that have not yet reopened for in-person instruction will have to continue offering distance learning until infection rates improve. Districts that were in the process of taking a phased-in approach to reopening their schools will now have to submit their plans for approval to County Health Officer Dr. Clayton Chau. We are thrilled to share that sous chef, Phillip B We are thrilled to share that sous chef, Phillip Burns, from the @AnaheimUnion has been named one of six 2020 California Classified School Employees of the Year. According to his county nomination, Burns’ responsibilities have included recipe development, product testing, planning and creating meals for students with special dietary needs. Before the pandemic, his role expanded to include assisting the central kitchen manager with the oversight and preparation of approximately 20,000 meals a day. The @cadepted today named Laura Gómez, a third-gr The @cadepted today named Laura Gómez, a third-grade teacher at Martin Elementary School in the @santaanausd , as a 2021 California Teacher of the Year, the highest honor for educators statewide. Gómez, a teacher of 25 years, is one of five teachers across California to earn this recognition. Gómez was named earlier this year as an Orange County Teacher of the Year.
