Four top school counselors and an educational leader have been honored through OCDE’s annual Counselor Recognition and Counselor Advocate Awards program.

Now in its fourth year, the program was established to spotlight Orange County’s top professional counselors and their contributions to positive school climates and student success.

Each of this year’s honorees was nominated multiple times by colleagues and students. They are:

  • Anh Nguyen, Ball Junior High School, Anaheim Union High School District
  • Mark Stanley, Valencia High School, Placentia Yorba Linda Unified School District

About these awards

The Orange County School Counselor Recognition Program was created in 2018 to honor counselors and their contributions to positive school climates and student success. Two years ago, awards were expanded to include those who advocate strongly on behalf of comprehensive counseling services.

The county recognition program coincides with National School Counseling Week, which is celebrated during the first full week in February.

To help celebrate National School Counseling Week, the American School Counselor Association has put together a toolkit equipped with resources for schools and districts to show support and appreciation for local counselors.
