Saddleback College’s faculty, administrators, trustees, students and staff marked a new era on Thursday, formally dedicating a brand new, state-of-the-art Sciences Building with the help of the community and some distinguished alumni.
The three-story facility, which opened to students on Aug. 22, offers 52,897 square feet of assignable space and includes the sort of features typically found at large universities, including 30 instructional laboratories and classrooms with ultramodern equipment and teaching stations. It also boasts an eco-friendly design, earning a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Located at the northeast end of the campus, adjacent to the Student Services Center, Saddleback College’s Sciences Building houses physics, astronomy, geology, oceanography, paleontology, anatomy, biology, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology and chemistry.
