Students from Vista View Middle School in the Ocean View School District recently heard that healthcare workers at Memorial Care Orange Coast Medical Center could use some encouragement and support.
So a group of altruistic seventh- and eighth-graders from Mrs. Hoang and Mrs. Luu’s math classes answered the call by making heartfelt cards and packaging up cookies for those on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic.
We’re told Memorial Care nurse Amy Duong distributed the items to doctors and nurses over a period of two weeks. As a precaution, she had to wait until she and her colleagues were not assigned to the COVID-19 unit.
“Our students understand how challenging it is to be working in a hospital right now and how vitally important those jobs are to our community,” Vista View Principal Rasheedah Gates said. “They were excited to show the staff at Memorial Care that they are truly appreciated.”
