The Irvine Unified School District hosted a pair of dedication ceremonies for its newest campus this week.
On Thursday, Oct. 22, parents and community members got a chance to tour the brand new facilities of Portola Springs Elementary School, which features a design and science lab, flexible-design classrooms, music and performing arts spaces, collaborative work environments, an innovation lab and more.
The new school, which opened in August, serves north Irvine and is now home to 630 students in kindergarten through grade six.
“Our relentlessly changing world requires that we adapt and evolve to best meet the needs of our students,” IUSD Superintendent Terry Walker said. “Portola Springs Elementary is strategically designed to leverage the power of discovery, collaboration, adaptability and inquiry. It reflects our own relentless commitment to excellence and exemplifies our award-winning education specifications.”
