There’s usually some pretty decent football played this time of year. But one matchup in particular caught our attention.
Ray Green, an Orange County Department of Education paraeducator, recently organized a flag football game that teamed students from OCDE’s alternative education program with representatives of the police department that serves Cal State Fullerton.
“The students did not know they were officers until we informed them after the game,” Green told the OCDE Newsroom. “This was a great way to bring our community together in these divided times.”
Green said the Nov. 18 football game also helped establish meaningful connections between CSUF and OCDE’s Alternative, Community, and Correctional Education Schools and Services program, known as ACCESS. In fact, ACCESS students have been invited to tour the university campus in the spring, he said.
