August signals the start of school for most OC districts

Welcome to August, the month that marks the start of the 2022-23 school year — or the end of summer vacation, depending on your point of view — for most Orange County school districts.

Students in the Savanna School District, which serves parts of Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress and Stanton, will be the first in the county to report back on Tuesday, Aug. 9. A day later, campuses will open their doors in the Anaheim Union High School District and the Centralia Elementary School District, which has eight schools in Buena Park, Anaheim and La Palma. The Anaheim Elementary and Cypress school districts are back in session on Thursday, Aug. 11.

All other OC districts will resume later in the month, except for the Fountain Valley, Ocean View and Huntington Beach City school districts, which restart after Labor Day.

See our chart below for a district-by-district breakdown. For year-round or multi-track schools, be sure to check your local district’s website.
