Fire crews urge caution, patience due to blaze along OC-Riverside county line

Anyone heading towards Riverside County on the 91 Freeway this afternoon should plan for long delays due to a stubborn brush fire.

Authorities have shut down portions of the freeway close to Coal Canyon Road throughout the afternoon due to the fire that reached 250 acres by 4 p.m.

The Orange County Register reports that no structures are threatened and no evacuations have been ordered. More than 150 firefighters from numerous Southern California agencies are responding, the Register reported. Air tankers, helicopters and engines are also helping them battle the flames.

Anaheim Fire Sgt. Darren Wyatt said in a Facebook post that traffic on eastbound 91 Freeway will be “impacted heavily,” and motorists should anticipate very long delays.
