Orange County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Al Mijares was honored this morning along with a handful of other local leaders during the Healthy Organizations Awards Breakfast at the Wyndham Irvine-Orange County Airport.
The event was part of the three-day 2017 Creating Healthy Organizations Conference organized by Vanguard University’s Organizational Psychology program. Awards were presented to those who lead organizations that foster high employee morale, engagement and well-being.
Dr. Mijares was appointed superintendent in August 2012 and elected to a full term in 2014. He previously served for six years as vice president of the College Board, where he worked to expand the high school-to-university pipeline as part of an effort to promote college readiness and success for all students.
Before joining the College Board, Dr. Mijares served as superintendent of the Santa Ana Unified School District for more than 11 years.
