State education officials have released a new mobile app that allows users to peruse instructional standards for the arts, computer science, health education, mathematics, and history and social science.
Content standards are set by the state, outlining the concepts and skills that all students should possess, and they vary by grade level. The California Standards app enables smartphone and tablet users to search, filter and sort standards to isolate specific content, identify standards common across disciplines, and inform decisions around instruction and assessment.
“This app is an incredible tool for our educators and parents, empowering them with access, knowledge and understanding of these content standards, which are an essential element to the academic success of each and every one of our students in California,” State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond said in a statement.
The mobile app can be found on the iOS App store, the Android Play store and the Microsoft store by searching the term “CA Standards.” The California Department of Education designed the new app with standards for five subjects, but officials plan to roll out additional subjects and features in phases.
More information about the app and links to the app stores are available on the CDE California Standards Mobile Application website.
