Do you know a teacher, student or school that uses science, mathematics and technology in an innovative way? Nominations for the Project Tomorrow Innovation in Education Awards are being accepted now through May 15.
Project Tomorrow and the Orange County Technology Alliance sponsor the awards to recognize the innovative use of science, mathematics or technology by outstanding education programs, educators who positively impact student achievement and secondary students who are creatively using resources to solve a school or community problem.
The award and scholarship program is open to Orange County public or private school teachers, school-wide programs and students in grades eight through 11. Nominations can be submitted by district and school staff or be self-submitted. Organizations such as a parent teacher association, parent advisory committee or youth based organization are also eligible to nominate.
Winners and finalists receive regional and national recognition, and money to expand a science, mathematics or technology program in their classroom or school. The honors break down this way:
- Innovative School-wide Program ($1,000 winner award, $250 finalist award)
- High Impact Teacher ($1,000 winner award, $250 finalist award)
- Emerging Student Innovator ($1,500 scholarship, $500 finalist award)
Online nomination forms are available on Project Tomorrow’s website, and applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 15.
Award recipients will be announced during the 22nd annual High-Tech Innovation Awards dinner reception on Thursday, Oct. 8 at The Westin South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa.
