Quick look: Inside the Outdoors will host a volunteer habitat restoration event at Ralph B. Clark Regional Park on Feb. 21, inviting families and community members to help remove invasive plants and support native ecosystems.

The Orange County Department of Education’s environmental education program, Inside the Outdoors, is inviting students, families and community members to take part in a habitat restoration volunteer event at Ralph B. Clark Regional Park on Saturday, Feb. 21.

The free event will run from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Buena Park site, located at 8800 Rosecrans Ave. Hosted in partnership with OC Parks, the effort will focus on restoring native habitats through hands-on activities such as planting, weeding and site improvement.

County Superintendent Dr. Stefan Bean and Sue Parks, president and CEO of Orange County United Way, pose on the set of OCDE’s FutureCurrent podcast.

Volunteers will assist with removing invasive plant species, clearing debris and preparing areas for ecological restoration. Organizers say this work helps protect local wildlife and support the health of the park’s natural ecosystems.

The regional park serves thousands of visitors each year and provides recreational and educational opportunities for families across Orange County. The volunteer effort aims to strengthen community stewardship while maintaining the park as an outdoor learning space for students and residents.

The event is open to families and community members, with activities appropriate for children ages 6 and older. No special skills are required, and tools and supplies will be provided. Free parking will be available for participating volunteers.

Participants are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes, comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor work and bring a reusable water bottle. Water will be available for refills. Space is limited to 25 volunteers, and registration will close once capacity is reached.

Additional information and registration details are available online.
