Quick look: Two upcoming Project GLAD® trainings will give educators practical strategies they can use to better support multilingual students and create more engaging classroom experiences.
Educators looking to better support their multilingual students will have several opportunities this fall to explore new approaches to language development and collaborative learning through two upcoming Project GLAD® trainings.
Project GLAD® uses research-based teaching strategies to support multilingual learners in developing language skills across academic subjects. The upcoming trainings will give educators a chance to learn those strategies, practice them and see how they can work in real classrooms.
The Project GLAD® Secondary Foundations Training will focus specifically on strategies for middle and high school settings and will offer separate sessions for both educators and Project GLAD® agency trainers.
Educator sessions covering Module 3 — Small Group Scaffolding — will take place Oct. 13-14, while Module 4 — Academic Discourse — will take place Feb. 9-10, 2027, in Orange County. The agency trainer versions will feature two additional days of training, taking place Oct. 12-15 and Feb. 8-11, 2027, covering the same modules, respectively.
The trainings will show educators how to utilize language development while creating opportunities for students to collaborate, discuss and learn together.
By the end, participants will be able to take back the strategies they’ve learned to their own classrooms, while Project GLAD Agency Trainers will receive additional training on how to teach and coach educators in using those strategies at their school sites.

For a more immersive experience, educators can also attend the Project GLAD® Foundations Training offered in partnership with Cal State Fullerton.
The six-day training begins with a two-day Research and Theory workshop Oct. 23-24 at CSUF, where participants will dive into the research behind the Project GLAD® approach and how it informs the model’s development, planning and support.
The training will continue Nov. 16-19 with a four-day classroom demonstration, where participants will observe Project GLAD® Agency Trainers working with students, see how the strategies promote language development and engagement, and create classroom-ready charts and digital resources.
