We already knew Orange County graduates were innovative and enterprising. Turns out they might also be prescient.
A story about a former Mission Viejo High School student who predicted more than 20 years ago that the Chicago Cubs would win the 2016 World Series has gone viral in recent weeks. And now that the Cubbies have made good on that prophecy, beating the Cleveland Indians 8-7 in Wednesday’s thrilling game seven, it may get even more play.
“Chicago Cubs. 2016 World Champions. You heard it here first.” That was the yearbook quote served up by Mission Viejo High senior Michael Lee way back in 1993. When that outcome started to look like a real possibility in August, a classmate scanned an image from the yearbook and posted it on social media.
So what other predictions does Lee have for 2016? We’re not really sure, and it doesn’t sound like he’s giving interviews. But Cubs fans are pretty delirious that he got this one right.
You heard it here first. Unless you didn’t.
