Anaheim Union High School District plans to open a virtual academy in 2020-21

Adding a new option for distance learning in the COVID-19 era, the Anaheim Union High School District has announced plans to launch an online secondary school that will be ready for the 2020-21 academic year.

AUHSD officials say Cambridge Virtual Academy will serve students in grades seven through 12 with online coursework while drawing inspiration from the district’s highly rated Oxford Academy.

Anaheim Union High School District office“CVA will help young people find their passion and build life skills through communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and compassion,” Anaheim Superintendent Michael Matsuda said. “CVA will build leaders.”

The tuition-free academy plans to provide experienced online teachers, internships through AUHSD’s AIME mentoring program, dual enrollment courses aligned with career pathways, a UCI transfer admissions guarantee through the Anaheim Union Educational Pledge and social-emotional resources.

A limited number of spots are available, and the district anticipates they’ll fill quickly.
