Angels Baseball Foundation honors AVID standout students

Thanks to the commitment and continued support of the Angels Foundation and Orange County Advancement Via Individual Determination, 65 AVID “standout” students were awarded brand new laptops during a special drive-through, pick-up event organized by the OCDE Advanced Learning team.

Like many events, the pandemic forced the annual AVID 8th Grade Standout event to be canceled, but that did not stop organizers from celebrating the honorees. Over the course of three days, OCDE staff members distributed special Angels gift bags that included a personalized certificate, laptop and an Angels hat as a reward for their academic success.

AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. AVID in Orange County currently serves approximately 30,000 students by providing the resources needed to close the achievement gap, thereby making the dream of college attainable for all students.
