Did you know that children can receive free summer meals at six OC Public Library branches?

Starting in June, select libraries in Orange County will offer healthy lunches to children and teens 18 and under on weekdays around noon.

All meals are served on a first-come-first-served basis, and no registration, identification or application is needed. If you’ve got a library card you can even pick up a few books while you’re there.

Lunch at the Library is a project established by the California Library Association and the California Summer Meal Coalition, with grant funding from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. The initiative collaborates with libraries across the state to offer nourishment along with activities to help prevent summer learning loss for children and teens, particularly in lower-income communities.

Branches in Garden Grove and Tustin will start their programs next week. The El Toro and San Juan Capistrano libraries will follow on June 10, and the Costa Mesa-Donald Dungan Library will begin June 20.
