Garden Grove Unified celebrates grads on social media with #18in2018 campaign

With high school graduations in full swing, Garden Grove Unified School District has launched a social media campaign to celebrate some of the district’s top graduates.

Through the middle of June, the district is posting short bios and pictures of 18 graduates on its social media platforms using the hashtag #18in2018.

Each of the featured students ranked among the top of his or her class at district high schools. The bios include the student’s college plans, some of their academic achievements and other information.

“We wanted to showcase our brightest, most dedicated scholars as part of the 18-day countdown to graduation. The students selected are our valedictorians, our student board representative, as well as a few students from our Board Rep Council, a group of students who meet monthly and are the students leader liaisons to the district,” said district spokeswoman Abby Milone.

“So far, our reach on Facebook is over 12,000 and the posts have received more than 300 likes on Instagram,” she said.

The district’s eight high schools will hold graduations on June 14 and 15.  Here’s a sample of some of the soon-to-be high school grads.
