VIDEO: Inside the Outdoors summer camps nurture a natural curiosity — and kindness

Did you know OCDE’s Inside the Outdoors environmental education program offers summer camps?

From late June through early August, ITO offers a series of week-long day camps for kids, led by the program’s field naturalists.

The camps run Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., though extended hours are available, and they feature lessons, activities and games related to the theme of the week. Sites include Inside the Outdoors’ Rancho Soñado headquarters, the Shipley Nature Center at Huntington Beach Central Park and Irvine Regional Park.

We recently caught up a group at the Shipley Nature Center to learn how they’re tying lessons on nature, wildlife and the environment to kindness as part of OCDE’s One Billion Acts of Kindness campaign. The brief video above is produced by Richard Rodriguez and Austin Duffis from our Media Services team.

If you’re thinking about enrolling your child next year in an ITO camp next summer, you can learn more about the program at ito.ocde.us.
