#kindness1billion: As a new school year begins, a message of thanks for OC teachers

Thousands more Orange County students are reporting back to school this week, as districts including Capistrano, Irvine, Orange, Tustin and La Habra City reopen for business.

So we thought this would be a good time to pass along a few thank-yous to those teachers who are painstakingly setting up their classrooms and preparing for another 10-month educational odyssey.

The video above pretty much speaks for itself, but here’s a little background on how it came together.

On Aug. 4, Orange County Department of Education employees — about 100 of them — gathered at our main offices for OCDE’s annual Children at Work Day. This year’s theme, “The Magic of Kindness,” was tied to the department’s One Billion Acts of Kindness campaign, and one of the activities invited kids to stand in front of our cameras and thank a favorite teacher — or anyone special in their lives.

Most were eager to take us up on the offer, and we’re just eager to share their kindness with you.
