#kindness1billion: Garden Grove USD grad gives back by donating backpacks to kindergarteners

GGUSD grad gives back

Kindergarten students at Heritage Computer Science Academy in the Garden Grove Unified School District are now prepared for the new school year after a former GGUSD student raised nearly $2,500 to purchase backpacks filled with school supplies.

Eliza Castrejon, a Pacifica High School class of 2013 graduate, organized a fundraiser and delivered the backpacks filled with crayons, pencils, markers, scissors, glue sticks, folders, notebooks, and more to kindergartners on their first day of school.

Heritage Academy Principal Michelle Pinchot says that Castrejon has a passion for education with a dream to one day teach in the district that helped her become the person she is today.

“Eliza’s backpack donation brought the biggest smiles to our students’ faces and added to the first day of school excitement,” said Pinchot. “We are grateful for her selflessness and kindness which demonstrated to our students the importance of giving back. I love that she attended Garden Grove schools and wants to continue to serve her community.”
