Registration is open for the sixth annual California MTSS conference

Educators, administrators, counselors and other school-based professionals are invited to register now for the 2023 CA MTSS Professional Learning Institute, a three-day summer conference aimed at promoting the academic, behavioral and social-emotional success of all learners.

Hosted by the Orange County Department of Education, the Butte County Office of Education and the California Integrated Supports Project consortia, the conference is expected to draw thousands of attendees to the Anaheim Convention Center July 18 through July 20 to hear from expert speakers and take part in interactive breakout sessions aligned with California’s Multi-Tiered System of Support. This year’s theme is “Equity in Action: Every Student, Every Day.”

6 questions (and answers) about this summer’s California MTSS Professional Learning Institute

As we’ve shared previously, California MTSS is a framework for schools to offer targeted support and interventions for all students based on their own personal academic, behavioral and social-emotional needs. Leveraging data and collaboration, the goal is to create a foundation that allows every student to succeed while preventing more serious issues from occurring.

2022 CA MTSS PLI
More than 2,500 educators from across the state gathered for last year’s California MTSS Professional Learning Institute.

“We are thrilled to bring together thousands of educators for the California MTSS Professional Learning Institute to share strategies, resources and insights for supporting the success of all students,” Orange County Superintendent Dr. Al Mijares said. “MTSS is a proven approach to meeting the unique needs of students, and we are committed to providing educators with the tools and knowledge they need to put it into practice.”

OCDE Learning Supports Director Dr. Jami Parsons says the PLI event has grown over the years, expanding opportunities for professional growth along with time to network with friends and colleagues. This year, organizers are anticipating more than 3,000 attendees.

“Our theme this year is focused on ‘Equity in Action: Every Student, Every Day,’ which aligns with our mantra that ‘All means All,’” Parsons said. “CA MTSS is the vehicle that will provide every school with the framework to ensure equitable access for all students to get their needs met and learn in a safe and caring environment.”

Early-bird registration rates will continue through April 30. To register, or to learn more about the conference and its speakers, visit camtsspli.ocde.us.
