The Orange County Department of Education is inviting Advanced Placement educators to participate in the 2025 AP in the OC Summer Institute, a 30-hour hybrid training experience taking place online from July 21 through July 25.
Endorsed by the College Board, the annual summer institute is a professional learning opportunity designed to support both new and experienced AP teachers. Through this training, educators will gain effective strategies, updated content knowledge and innovative teaching practices — all aimed at creating high-quality learning experiences and stronger academic outcomes for students.

Over the past 12 years, AP in the OC has trained more than 2,000 educators, helping them build confidence and competence in delivering college-level instruction to high school students.
“Attending an AP Summer Institute is a great way to hone the skills needed to prepare your students for success in your AP course and on the AP exam,” said Shelby Rommelfanger, OCDE’s coordinator of advancing learning. “The consultants are highly trained professionals who are passionate about their subject matter, fellow participants are eager to learn and improve their teaching practice, and the time spent during the summer results in a plethora of resources and strategies for teaching and learning.”
This year’s institute will offer sessions in 17 AP subjects, including three newly added courses: African American Studies, Computer Science A and Human Geography. Participants will explore course structure, student engagement, feedback strategies and exam preparation techniques that support strong instructional practices.
Interested educators are encouraged to take advantage of special early bird pricing, available through May 14 at $650. Starting May 15, the standard registration rate of $700 will apply, with a late registration rate of $795 beginning July 13. All registration fees include College Board materials, providing participants with essential resources to support their AP teaching journey.
