Schools throughout Orange County once again hosted food drives to give back to their communities, collecting a variety of items to ensure no one goes hungry this holiday season.

These food drives have become a cherished tradition, providing students and staff with an opportunity to positively impact families in need and spread holiday cheer. Some schools, such as McAuliffe Middle School in the Los Alamitos School District, partnered with local nonprofit organizations, while others took on the task of collecting and distributing meals themselves.

McAuliffe Principal Eddie Courtemarche reflected on the impact of his school’s food drive on both the students and their community.

“With over 1,250 items collected for WE CARE, a local nonprofit supporting Los Al families, it’s a testament to the generosity and spirit of our McAuliffe family,” he said. “Through programs like (California Junior Scholastic Federation), ASB and Link Crew, we strive to provide comprehensive leadership opportunities, helping our Eagles soar both in school and in the community.”

What’s more, many schools found other ways to support their communities this season.

In addition to collecting 1,227 cans of food, Oxford Academy partnered with Kennedy High School in the Anaheim Union High School District to lead the Bags of Hope Project, which provides underprivileged children with Christmas gifts. Meanwhile, La Habra High School in the Fullerton Joint Union High School District enlisted over 100 students to help wrap shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.
