Are you an Orange County teacher looking for a way to purchase materials or equipment for a classroom project?
You might want to consider applying this month for a grant offered by the Education Foundation for Orange County Schools.
Established by SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union and OCDE, the foundation provides assistance of up to $5,000 to help public and private school teachers from kindergarten through community college fund educational programs that inspire student interest in core subjects.
Grant applications may be submitted by individuals or teams of up to three teachers in the categories of language arts, science/mathematics, foreign language and social studies.
Since 2003, about 350 teachers have received foundation grants totaling more than $900,000, enabling them to implement programs impacting more than 20,000 students, according to SchoolsFirst, which encourages its members to contribute to the program.
Applications will be accepted through the end of October. To apply, or for more information, go to oceducationfoundation.org.
