You might have heard the term Universal Design for Learning, or UDL. It’s a teaching method that supports diverse learning styles by using multiple ways of presenting content, expressing knowledge and engaging with material.
To delve deeper into how UDL can be effectively implemented in the classroom, OCDE’s Educational Services team is hosting a two-day virtual training titled “UDL 101: Learn the Basics of Universal Design for Learning.” Scheduled for Oct. 1 and Oct. 15 from 3 to 4 p.m., the sessions will be led by Christy McAnlis.
Educators will gain insights into the three foundational principles of UDL — representation, action and expression, and engagement. The training will also cover how these principles align with differentiation and the California Multi-Tiered System of Support while providing practical resources to apply UDL across different content areas.
The workshop is designed for administrators, teachers, education specialists, instructional coaches, and service providers. Registration is $100 per participant, with a Zoom link provided one week before the sessions begin. For more details or to sign up, check out the registration page.
These sessions are one of many professional learning opportunities offered by OCDE in all content areas. To explore more trainings, visit the department’s Educational Services webpage.
