OCDE’s director of career education was recently featured on a popular personal finance radio show and podcast to talk about Orange County’s efforts to promote college and career readiness.
Appearing on “The Truth About Money with Ric Edelman,” Kathy Boyd, who oversees OC Pathways and the department’s career technical education programs, discussed how local students are earning college credits and exploring potential careers in high school — and sometimes earlier.
“We’re utilizing systems like dual enrollment, which is kids earning early college credit while they’re still in high school and even middle school,” she said. “We’re hopefully revising or creating academic plans to include career interests and goals.”
Edelman’s weekly radio show goes out to more than 500,000 listeners through 40-plus stations across the country, and it’s also available as a podcast.
You can listen to the May 25 episode through your preferred podcast network or through the Edelman Financial Services website. Boyd’s segment starts at about the 32-minute mark and goes about six minutes.
