Since 2015, OCDE’s College and Career Preparatory Academy has provided independent study options and personalized guidance for young adults looking to earn their high school diplomas.
With opportunities to earn credits while juggling everyday responsibilities like full-time jobs or familial duties, CCPA students have persevered through obstacles in pursuit of graduation.
That perseverance was on full display at Fullerton Union High School, where 141 graduates ages 18 to 25 recently graced the stage of the Fullerton Auditorium to receive their diplomas, marking the completion of their secondary education. The program’s class of 2024 was joined in celebration by community members, educators and loved ones who supported them on their journeys.
While taking courses, CCPA students can also build on their job skills through career technical education training and increase their employability for stronger career options.
“Not everyone follows the traditional high school route, and programs like CCPA give people like me and like our graduates here today, another opportunity to earn a high school diploma,” said Melissa Price, CCPA alumni and keynote speaker at the ceremony.
