SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union opens scholarship application period for student members

SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union is inviting eligible student members to apply for its annual Member Education Award scholarship program, which is available now through Jan. 31.

The initiative offers financial support to high school seniors along with college freshmen and sophomores to help offset the cost of books, tuition and other educational expenses. Applicants must be members of SchoolsFirst FCU, enrolled in an accredited college or university for the fall term and have completed no more than 60 college credits.

Awards are based on academic performance, course rigor, school and community involvement, leadership, and letters of recommendation. Students who meet the requirements may reapply each year.

“These scholarships are one of the many ways we invest in the future of our members,” said Josh Smith, vice president of school and community relations for SchoolsFirst FCU. “We support students who not only excel academically but also demonstrate strong leadership and service in their communities.”

Established in 2000, the Member Education Award program reflects the credit union’s ongoing commitment to supporting the educational goals for its members. Last year, the credit union awarded $210,500 in scholarships to 248 students, including 158 high school seniors, 50 college freshmen and 40 college sophomores.

SchoolsFirst FCU is also a long-standing partner of the Orange County Department of Education, serving as the premier sponsor of the county’s annual Teachers of the Year celebration.
