While scores of students across Orange County are hitting the beach, traveling on summer trips, or just sleeping through the morning, hundreds of students at three Anaheim Elementary School District schools were the firsts this week to start the new 2018-19 school year.
Students at Edison, Mann and Ponderosa Elementary started classes Tuesday. These schools have year-round, multi-track schedules.
Teachers at the campuses welcomed back students with hugs, banners and balloons. Many principals, teachers and staff posted greetings, and posed with students for pictures on social media to celebrate the start of school. Here are some posts on Twitter.

Across Orange County, most other students begin flowing back into classrooms for the start of the new year between early August and early September. (Some schools in districts including Irvine Unified and Los Alamitos Unified also have year-round programs, where students will start school this month.)
