The artistic accomplishments of individuals with disabilities took center stage during the 40th annual VSA Festival on Saturday, April 30.
“The mall was just bustling with people who were really celebrating the theme, which was chosen to represent our 40 years — ‘Soaring to greater heights,'” said Phyllis Berenbeim, VSA coordinator.
Showcasing music, writing, theater, dance, visual arts and even handbell choirs, the event drew waves of visitors to Santa Ana’s MainPlace Mall throughout the day.
“I believe that this kind of event certainly affects those that are involved, but also to the general person that just comes to shop,” said Berenbeim. “It’s a great awareness of the positive things about having arts available to people with disabilities.”
