Los Alamitos High School honors top seniors at Valedictorian Signing Ceremony

Los Alamitos seniors at Valedictorian Signing Day.

Quick look: Los Alamitos High School honored its top 10 seniors during a special Valedictorian Signing Ceremony, where students shared their college and career plans in front of family, friends and staff. Modeled after athletic signing day traditions, the event celebrated academic excellence and aimed to inspire future graduates.

“For the next four years, I’ll be attending the University of…”

That’s a familiar phrase often spoken by high school athletes on National Signing Day — a ceremony where they announce their college choice and sign letters of intent. But this time, it was 10 seniors at the top of their class who had the chance to say those words and sign ceremonial letters of intent in front of their family and friends.

Earlier this week, Los Alamitos High school hosted its Valedictorians Signing Ceremony in the school gym, where the top 10 seniors shared their higher education and career plans in front of one very proud crowd. The ceremony, which mirrors athletic signing day celebrations, also provided students the opportunity to thank loved ones and those who provided support along their educational journeys.

“This ceremony isn’t just about celebrating GPAs — it’s about honoring the dedication, passion and perseverance these students have shown throughout their high school journey,” said Los Alamitos High School Principal Christiana Kraus. “They represent the very best of what it means to be a Griffin.”

As the top seniors from one of Orange County’s largest high schools, these students were accepted into some of the nation’s most prestigious universities — including Stanford, the University of California Berkeley and Cornell.

Recognizing their achievements in this way has become a highly anticipated tradition — one that Los Alamitos High hopes will continue to inspire younger students for years to come.
