We’ve posted a few stories in recent months about OC Pathways, an initiative that connects educators and industry leaders to equip students for college and career success.
But what does OC Pathways look like from a student’s perspective?
Well, a few months back, our Media Services team caught up with Nick, an aspiring filmmaker from Canyon High School in the Orange Unified School District, to document his travels along the digital media arts pathway. Click on the link above to watch his story.
Led by OCDE and Saddleback College, OC Pathways was initiated through a 2014 grant from the California Department of Education, and the basic idea is that partners develop coursework that combines academics with career preparation in specific target sectors, including healthcare/biotechnology, engineering/advanced manufacturing and information technology/digital media.
The countywide partnership, which continues to expand, also provides work-based learning opportunities for students and professional development for educators.
That’s the quick version. You can learn more about OC Pathways by visiting www.ocpathways.com, or click here to watch additional student stories. And check back with us soon for details on the second annual OC Pathways Showcase, which is coming in November.
