Parenting OC is accepting nominations for its 2018 Top Teachers of Orange County Awards, sponsored by SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union.
The magazine’s editors are specifically calling for principal-approved submissions from public and private K-12 schools throughout Orange County. Nominations, including a 400-word essay, must be submitted by Dec. 15.
This recognition is separate from OCDE’s Orange County Teachers of the Year program, which throws a dinner celebration at the Disneyland Hotel each fall and sends nominees to compete for California Teacher of the Year honors. (SchoolsFirst sponsors is that event’s premier sponsor as well.)
Last year, Parenting OC selected David Beshk of St. Margaret’s Episcopal in San Juan Capistrano as its Top Teacher of the Year from a pool of more than 130 entrants. Along with being honored at a special reception, Beshk was featured on the cover of the March 2017 issue of Parenting OC.
This year’s Top Teacher will be selected by the editorial staff and revealed Feb. 7 at a ceremony at Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, where the Top 25 Teachers will be also celebrated. The winner will appear on the cover of the magazine’s March 2018 issue.
All nominations must be submitted by school administration through an official form at www.parentingoc.com. There are no fees to enter, but we’re told there’s a limit of two educators per school.
