Graduation rates for Orange County and the rest of the state climb for the fifth straight year

High school graduation rates for California and Orange County have increased for the fifth year in a row, with English-learners accounting for the biggest overall spikes in 2014, according to data released this week. In Orange County, students who started high school in 2010-11 posted a graduation rate of 88.6 percent in 2014 -- up from 87.5 percent in 2013. That number has been climbing steadily. [...]

Students participating in Friday Night Live programs at Bolsa Grande and Santiago high schools in the Garden Grove Unified School District were invited to present youth-led traffic safety and underage drinking projects at the recent Orange County DUI Forum. Classroom of the future at Orange’s Cerro Villa Middle School boosts career exploration in STEM fields

Students at Cerro Villa Middle School in Orange have the opportunity to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics through a hands-on elective course that began in March and takes place in the school’s new on-site STEM lab. Utilizing the Paxton ActionLABS program, the lab contains 16 stations stocked with hardware, software, tools and instructional materials that students can leverage to conduct hands-on experiments in the STEM fields through project-based lessons.
