Orange County students keep their eyes on the road to document distracted driving

This week, Orange County youth involved in the Friday Night Live and Club Live programs took part in a statewide Roadwatch campaign to document distracted driving in their communities. And there was plenty to document. In all, they observed more than 1,400 local distractions, including the use of hand-held devices, eating, drinking, personal grooming, animals on drivers' laps, reaching for items and reading. Local groups to discuss early childhood issues at next month’s ‘Raising of America’ event

A coalition of Orange County organizations serving children and families will host a community conversation next month on early childhood care and education based on the PBS documentary series, “The Raising of America: Early Childhood and the Future of Our Nation.” OCDE will take part in the event, which will be held from 1:30 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at Brandman University in Irvine.
